By accessing and using WeatherTranslate ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by these terms, please do not use this service.
WeatherTranslate is NOT a primary source of life-safety information. All weather alerts, polygons, and severity ratings are passed directly from the United States National Weather Service (NWS) API via automated systems.
In the event of an imminent threat (e.g., a Tornado Warning), you must seek shelter immediately and rely on local government broadcast authorities.
The WeatherTranslate SMS Alert Program is a recurring messaging service that delivers severe weather alert text messages, translated into your selected language, to the mobile phone number you provide at signup. Alerts are sourced from the United States National Weather Service (NWS) and translated by WeatherTranslate before delivery.
You must (1) provide your mobile phone number, (2) select your preferred language, and (3) explicitly check the SMS consent box on a WeatherTranslate signup form. After A2P 10DLC carrier registration is complete, you will receive a one-time welcome message asking you to reply YES to confirm. Until you reply YES, no further messages will be sent.
Frequency varies based on weather alert activity in your area, typically 0–12 messages per month. Frequency may be higher during active severe weather events such as hurricanes or severe storm outbreaks. WeatherTranslate does not commit to any minimum or maximum number of messages.
Message and data rates may apply. Standard SMS rates from your mobile carrier may apply to messages received and any replies sent. WeatherTranslate does not charge a per-message fee. Consult your wireless carrier's plan for SMS pricing details.
Carriers (including but not limited to AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, and their affiliates) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. WeatherTranslate uses commercially reasonable efforts to deliver messages promptly via Twilio Inc., but does not guarantee delivery within any specific time window. SMS alerts must not be relied upon as a primary source of life-safety information. Always seek official emergency authority instructions during active severe weather events.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to subscribe. The SMS program is available to mobile phone numbers within the United States only. By subscribing, you represent that you are the authorized account holder of the mobile number provided.
By providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent box at signup, you grant WeatherTranslate your express written consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (47 U.S.C. § 227) to send recurring text messages, including messages sent using an automatic telephone dialing system, to the mobile number you provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. You may revoke consent at any time by replying STOP.
Information collected through the SMS program is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including the SMS-specific section describing data collection, retention, and third-party processors.
You agree not to use the Service to:
We reserve the right to temporarily or permanently modify or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
