Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to WeatherTranslate ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our website. This Privacy Policy explains how our weather alerting service interacts with your data.

2. Geolocation Data

Our mapping tools utilize your device's Geolocation API strictly to center the hazard map on your current coordinates. We do not save, store, or transmit your precise GPS coordinates to our servers or any third-party databases. Location processing happens entirely on your local device within the browser.

3. Google AdSense & Cookies (Important)

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our site. Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and IP addresses to collect information as a result of ad serving on our website.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your prior visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
  • Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

For more information on how Google collects and processes data, please visit: How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

4. SMS / Text Message Alerts

If you opt in to SMS alerts, we collect and process your mobile phone number to deliver severe weather alert text messages.

What we collect and why

  • Phone number (in E.164 international format) — used solely to deliver severe weather alert messages translated into your selected language.
  • Consent metadata — the exact disclosure text you saw, the date/time you opted in, the IP address, browser user-agent, and originating page URL. This evidentiary record is retained to demonstrate consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
  • Message delivery records — every SMS we send, with delivery status, timestamps, and the consent record that authorized it.
  • Inbound message content when you reply (e.g., YES, STOP, HELP) — recorded as part of your consent history.

Message frequency

Frequency varies based on weather alert activity in your area. Typically 0–12 messages per month, may be higher during active severe weather events (e.g., hurricanes, severe storm outbreaks).

Carrier and rates disclaimer

Message and data rates may apply, charged by your mobile carrier. We do not charge you separately for the messages themselves. WeatherTranslate is not liable for delays, undelivered messages, or carrier-side filtering — please consult your mobile carrier for delivery questions.

Opting out

Reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any message to immediately unsubscribe from SMS alerts. Reply HELP for assistance. You can also email support@weathertranslate.com to be removed.

Third-party SMS processor

SMS messages are delivered through Twilio Inc., our A2P 10DLC carrier connectivity provider. Your phone number and message content are processed by Twilio under their own privacy policy (twilio.com/legal/privacy). We do not share your phone number with marketing partners, advertisers, or any party outside the SMS delivery chain.

Retention

Phone numbers are retained while your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe (STOP), your phone number is removed from active sending lists immediately, but the consent log entry and final STOP record are retained for evidentiary purposes for at least four (4) years to defend against TCPA claims.

No condition of purchase

SMS consent is not a condition of any purchase or other use of WeatherTranslate. You may use the website and email-based features without ever providing a phone number.

5. Email Alerts

If you opt in to email alerts, we collect your email address to deliver severe weather alert emails and product updates. Emails are sent through Resend, our transactional email provider, and are governed by their privacy policy (resend.com/legal/privacy-policy). Every email contains an unsubscribe link in the footer; you can also email support@weathertranslate.com to be removed. Email addresses are retained while your subscription is active and removed within 30 days of unsubscription.

6. Third-Party Web Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to monitor site performance and traffic routing (e.g., measuring visitors from our international domains). This tool tracks anonymized page views and does not collect personally identifiable information (PII) or use tracking cookies.

7. Contact Us
