* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...San Juan County in southeastern Utah...
Southwestern Garfield County in southern Utah...
Kane County in southern Utah...

* WHEN...Until 1215 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of normally dry washes, slot canyons, rivers,
creeks, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring.
Prolonged and widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will continue
trough this evening. This coupled with near-saturated soils will
allow rapidly increasing flows across all waterways within the
warned area, including all of the Glen Canyon National Recreation
Area. Increasingly high flows are expected in, but not limited
to...the Paria River, Wahweep Creek, Warm Creek, Last Chance Creek,
Croton Canyon, and the Escalante River Basin and tributaries. Many
backcountry roads within this area are expected to become
impassable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 610 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen across the headwaters of the
Paria River, Escalante River, Wahweap Creek and other drainages
within the warned area. The Paria River at Highway 89 saw a peak
flow of nearly 2500 CFS overnight, while the Escalante River just
downstream from Escalante recorded a peak stage of 6 feet. These
flood waves will continue to move downstream through the morning
hours.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2.5 inches are possible
through this evening. This will result in continued high flows
and additional flooding of all rivers, streams and normally dry
washes within the warned area.
- Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, including the Escalante
region. Kodachrome State Park, Tropic, Cannonville, Escalante,
and Big Water
