The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 1130 PM HST. * At 832 PM HST, Doppler radar indicated rain forming and moving over the Kau and Puna districts, with rainfall rates up to 1 inch per hour over already saturated grounds. Big Island Civil Defense reports Highwy 11 is closed in both directions near mile markers 56 and 63 due to flooding. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
