Moisture along the eastern flank of Hurricane Lowell will bring periods of heavy rain to the main Hawaiian Islands through Tuesday. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Kauai and Niihau. * WHEN...Through Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - As the center of Hurricane Lowell passes west of the islands, deep moisture associated with its inner rainbands will spread across Kauai and Niihau where significant rainfall has already fallen. These additional periods of heavy rain can quickly lead to additional flash flooding. - Kauai and Niihau.
