...TROPICAL STORM CHAMPI CONTINUES WEST-NORTHWEST TOWARD THE MARIANAS... .NEW INFORMATION... None. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides important information and recommended actions for people in Guam and the Northern Marianas. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Typhoon Watch continues for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan in the Mariana Islands. A Flood Watch remains in effect for all of Guam and the Northern Marianas. Please listen closely for any Flood Warnings that might be in effect for your area. .STORM INFORMATION... At 7 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Storm Champi (29W) was located near latitude 11.6N...longitude 155.8E. This was about 750 miles east of Guam. Storm motion was west-northwest, 300 degrees, at 12 mph. Storm intensity was 45 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... When making decisions, do not focus on the exact forecast track. It is too early to provide exact wind and surge forecast values for specific locations. A general concern should be for the possibility of at least extensive damage somewhere within Guam and the Northern Marianas.
