The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
Neuse and Bay Rivers...

* Until 515 PM EDT.

* At 411 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing
waterspouts was located over The Vicinity Of Slocum Creek, or 12 nm
west of Oriental. The severe thunderstorm was nearly stationary.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
