Western Chaves County in southeastern New Mexico... * Until 1130 PM MDT. * At 624 PM MDT, gauge reports in Hondo show a significant and dangerous flood wave in the Rio Hondo. This flood wave will continue to impact communities downstream to and past the Chaves County line. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Gauges reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Picacho and Sunset. Stay away from river banks as this flood wave will develop rapidly. Those near the Rio Hondo should consider seeking higher ground.
